My name is Evelyn, I’m 28 years old and the mother of a beautiful boy named Brian. I live in a tourist town by sea, in Italy. I spend a lot of time with my son, which is why I can spare the time to create and experiment with new things.
I am crazy about travelling and would gladly travel around the world. I love adventure and unspoiled places…. white beaches …the sun ... my dream would be to live somewhere warm all year round.

I have always had a passion for sewing clothes for myself, but I also loved unique and original accessories, and I found such joy in creating them, or seeing people wear such.
After I became a mother, I used my free time to create jewellery and accessories for myself and my friends. That was also about the time that I discovered Etsy and the world of eShops.

You ask me why an Italian girl, called Sumiko her shop?
I have a passion for Japan and the East in general, I like foreign names, I can not call my son Sumiko, so I called my shop.
I do jewelry, hair accessories, pins and much more ...
I decided to open my store at etsy, so i can sell my creations worldwide.
I love life, beautiful things, colours, and I love laughter. I would love to convey all of these through my creations.

Mini Monday - Kalkat

We've been making and designing OOAK pieces of jewelry for over 5 years now. We love making beautiful things that are shiny and compliment others. We use only quality sterling silver, gemstones and Swarovski crystals in each of our designs. Each piece is handmade with lots of love and care.

With lots of love and care is the guiding motto of all of the artisans I know. It is the feelings behind each creation that makes buying handmade so much more special than massed produced items from the big box stores. In giving or receiving a handmade gift you are spreading to the world around you more of that love and care and isn't that exactly what we all need? This talented Artisan is a part-time SAHM with a young daughter. She was born and raised in western Maryland and educated in northern Indiana, I now live with my husband and lovely little girl in Buckinghamshire, England.

What influences her jewelry?

Fantastical stories in particular. My shelves are crammed with lush, illustrated faerie tales and sweeping epic trilogies like Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials , Lord of the Rings , and Garth Nix's The Old Kingdom . It's the love of stories such as this that drove me to want to adorn myself with them. To make jewelry as potent and sumptuous as the stories that inspire me.

I use real gemstones in all of my work except where otherwise stated. I believe real gems have a significant weight, feel and lustre to them that glass does not. Any piece of jewelry can be fitted with stones other than the ones pictured!

Extraordinary artist, using only quality materials and skilled craftmanship, all items in her shop come with a 1 year warranty covering the body of the piece. (excluding chains)
