It's Carnival Time, April 11th

Twice a month, the Etsybloggers gather for a Carnival.  We write about one of two topics introduced by our host.  When hosting, I (Storybeader) usually look ahead to see what special events are happened before I pick a date.  With that in mind...

Did you know the first Public Library (in the US) opened on April 9th, 1833 in New Hampshire?

I knew when I saw that, it had to be the theme for my Carnival.  Last week, I was looking through my calendar, to see what my work week looked like, when something special happened.  The Saturday before this carnival was supposed to be posted on the Etsybloggers team blog, I realized I had signed up to work at the local public library's book sale.  Synchronicity, what a good feeling it is!

Here are the two Carnival topics we are writing about:

1) what fond memories do you have of your public library and reading?

2) Peterborough is the town where the first public library opened.  What's your town known for?  Show us around!

Please link directly to your Carnival URL in the form below, so we can all walk down memory lane with you!  And wouldn't it be a good idea to visit at least 3 links before and after your link and leave a comment?  That's right, everyone who posts a link visit at least 6 other blogs!

Thanks Deb! I loved this carnival - great fun to go down memory lane and to read how our experiences are similar in terms of smells and the feeling you get when you go into a Public Library!

I've posted my link!

I've posted mine twice - filling in all 3 slots and putting the link to my blog post in the URL section, but it's still not showing. : (

Let's check back on your link, Janet. I just read that it says "Accepted links may take a few minutes to appear." -- maybe more than a few? :)

Please note: for those who have asked about posting links with this linky tool...

If it is your turn to host, you do NOT need to use this linky tool. If you want to, you can. But it is NOT managed by EtsyBloggers. These linky tools are managed by YOU. For example, Deb (storybeader) is managing her own list for this Blog Carnival. That means she is posting the code that she receives.

So, for the next Blog Carnival, you can just post the link to your entry WITHIN THE COMMENTS, as we have been doing.

Hope that's not too confusing! :)

Again, the linky tool above is for THIS BLOG CARNIVAL only, and in the future for any other blog carnivals that the HOST would LIKE TO USE.

Otherwise, you can post your link in the comments.

I'm glad everyone is having fun with the linky. Remember, we need to use THIS JustLinked ONLY for the present Carnival, April 11th. Hope you go and visit some of the other blogs and see what an impt. role libraries and hometowns had on each of us! {:-D

Such beautiful buildings to be inspired by in youth. All the military library's were drab, but what they lacked in architecture they made up with in youth programs. With good reason too, what else is there for a kid to do on a Military base?

I really enjoyed the idea of this carnival. It sent me on a journey of reminiscence. I have a book of photographs (which includes a few stories) of the town where I grew up. But NO library photos! So of course I had to google the library I used to visit.

Well, I don't know what to do -- I've tried three times to get the linky to work and each time it says "Blog not found" There's an 'h' appearing in front of my blog name but I don't know why!
Anyway, here's my post:

So sorry about the triple links that don't link :(
