December 3rd Blog Carnival

I hosted the December 3rd blog carnival.  The topics were:

1) Share a holiday item that you created and tell us a little bit about it.
It can be something that you created for the 2010 holidays or for a past holiday season.

2) Create a holiday Etsy wish list and share it on your blog. What do you really want from Etsy this year?

You can read all of the responses here:

MiniMonday: JACBERKITSCH

MINI MONDAY:  JacBerKitsch

Here you will find many crochet items you may remember seeing while growing up at your grandmother’s house, or Aunt Margaret’s (well, you fill in your own names!). Jacberkitsch’s shop: http://jacberkitsch.etsy.com - is filled with various crocheted items which, she says, “crochet and wool have been where I've found my creative side comes out the best”.

Jacberkitsch is the creation of Gill & Andrew, Pokeno/Mercer, New Zealand; and when Gill is not crocheting, she and her husband enjoy going to thrift and op shops and like to up cycle preloved material for our sewing where we can. As Andrews says of Gill, “she is addicted to crocheting first and everything else crafty second”. Although they come from New Zealand, a long way from where I am, NY, USA – many of their items are just want you would find in some of our own homes here.

Looking for that unique Christmas or Holiday gift, her Christmas tea cozies would be the perfect gift for that tea lover in your house. As one who is always reminding my “adult” children, “use a coaster!” you will find a variety of coaster in different colors in her shop also. My favorites were these “rustic coasters” and her “chunky pink coasters” to protect that well polished table. As Jacberkitsch says, her shop is filled with unique items – well, looking for that different little something, look no further that her crocheted Lady “toilet paper holders”! (above is Gill's Glam Toilet Paper Doll!)

Her dream is one that many of us wish for also, “to let this creativity out full-time and escape the 9 to 5 grind”. Curious as to what Jacberkitsch does during her spare time, she invites all of us to stop by and visit her blog: http://jac-bercreations.blogspot.com”, where you will find her newest interest - felting! I love this red felted bag she created. So, although their shop may just be a showcase of their crocheted items, reading Jacberkitsch’s blog, you will find a few of her other interests.
